Description

The ARENA Language Dataset will provide a rich multimodal resource for studying language processing in the brain. We currently collect MEG and functional MRI data from 8 participants performing tasks varying in language context granularity, across 31 sessions. In the narrative task, participants listen to an entire audiobook in German (one chapter per session, 11 chapters). In the sentence task participants are presented with 212 sentences, both auditorily and visually, intersecting with the book. In the single word task, 1,160 words selected from the audiobook, and appearing in the sentence condition, are presented both visually and auditorily. For the object task, participants are presented with 160 visual objects, whose names are also stimuli in the single word task. Each task is repeated in both neuroimaging modalities. Here, we report on current progress of data acquisition. Upon completion, the dataset will be publicly shared for scientific use.
