Description
My work is related to my dissertation project, titled “The Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music: A Mongrel of History’s Hatchet.” In this presentation, I will discuss the development of my theoretical framework: a post-colonial Bourdieusian approach. This approach relies on two main aspects.
First, it involves using the general Bourdieusian corpus of field theory, rather than solely focusing on Bourdieu’s work on French cultural fields, combined with my fieldwork in Lebanon (qualitative interviews). Second, it incorporates postcolonial theory, mainly the works of Said and Berque, as well as research about the colonial Algerian experience, including the works of Fanon.
