Travel expenses and accommodation have to be booked and paid separately by workshop participants. Please check whether you will need a visa to visit Germany. Applying for and obtaining the visa is your own responsibility.
Note that if you plan to take a regional train (RB) or local transport (U-Bahn, S-Bahn) more than one day during your stay in Germany, it will be worth it to buy the 9 Euro all-inclusive regional travel ticket that is offered this summer from Deutsche Bahn.
Getting to Frankfurt am Main
First, be sure you are going to Frankfurt AM MAIN and NOT Frankfurt AN DER ODER.
By air:
Flughafen Frankfurt (Frankfurt Airport): FRA.
From the Frankfurt Airport "Regionalbahnhof" you can take the regional train (RB) or S-Bahn to the Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main station) or Hauptwache. Depending on where you are staying it may make more sense to go to one station or the other. If you are coming straight to the institute, take a train to Hauptwache. These trains run regularly (at least every 20 min) so you will not need to wait long. The ticket costs ~5 Eur, or would be covered as part of the 9 Euro ticket discussed above.
From Hauptwache, to get to the Institute, take U1, U2, U3 or U8 destined out of town (i.e., not in the direction of “Südbahnhof”). Ride four stops to Grüneburgweg. Get off at "Grüneburgweg", take the exit "Grüneburgweg", after 50 m turn right into "Grüneburgweg" and go straight on. After crossing the street "Im Trutz", you will find our Institute in the building Westend Carree on your right, entrance Grüneburgweg 14.
By train:
Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof (Hbf).
To get to the Max Planck Institute for Empirical Aesthetics, take the U-Bahn to Grüneburgweg. There are a variety of route combinations that can get you to this U-Bahn stop. One possible option is to take underground line U4 or U5 to Willy-Brandt-Platz. At the stop Willy-Brandt-Platz change to U1, U2, U3 or U8 destined out of town (i.e., not in the direction of “Südbahnhof”). Ride four stops to Grüneburgweg. Get off at "Grüneburgweg", take the exit "Grüneburgweg", after 50 m turn right into "Grüneburgweg" and go straight on. After crossing the street "Im Trutz", you will find our Institute in the building Westend Carree on your right, entrance Grüneburgweg 14.
